Chair Yoga is one of the gentlest forms of yoga practice available. Complicated maneuvers and complex movements are not present in a chair yoga class. Within this type of yoga class, you will experience standing, balancing, seated, and breathing (pranayama) practices that will enhance your mind, body and spirit.
Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Iyengar Yoga is known for the use of the chair as a prop in many classes.
Frequently the chair yoga student is unable to participate in a traditional yoga class due to the effects of maturing or replacement parts. However, Chair yoga is a great practice for everyone, as it deepens flexibility, assists in maintaining range of motion and strengthens body awareness.
Chair yoga may help handle the symptoms of many health issues including: hypertension (high blood pressure), anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, vertigo (medical), multiple sclerosis, Osteoporosis, Osteopenia, carpal tunnel syndrome, clinical depression, and chronic pain.
Please come and join me for this incredible class! I offer it every Tuesday, at 3:15 through March 2017. Like my ReneeYoga Page on Facebook to stay in touch!
I will be teaching classes for the month of August 2016 at Bryan Legere's studio located north of the Redmond/Bend Airport while Bryan is teaching in China. Classes are every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 AM for 90 minutes and the studio has 30 wall stations. Redmond, Oregon is where I recommend that people stay and is about a 20 minute drive. If you can find an AirBnb in Terrebonne, Oregon you will be very close. Please bring your own mat. This part of Oregon is full of the most incredible hiking (Smith Rock), kayaking, golf just around the corner from the studio, food and activities in Bend.....too much fun. I hope to see some of you there!
We will start our Yoga Nidra Series at Maya Yoga in the Crossroads District, downtown Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 2:00 pm. This practice will take 90 minutes. The classes will be designed for all students (no yoga experience necessary) as a guided meditation experience.
All students will explore and develop intentions; experience body sensitivities, breath and energy awareness. You will also develop and refine a systematic neutralization of negative body sensations and stress, negative feelings and emotions, negative beliefs, images and memories. This practice accumulates in a deeper experience of joy and well-being with the development of freedom from the sense of separation generated by the senses and the mind. You will ultimately learn how to experience peace amidst the changing circumstances of life once you develop a consistent practice of the Yoga Nidra.
Students can expect to lie down or sit comfortably during the practice supported by blankets and props. The benefits of a Yoga Nidra practice are: decreased stress, anxiety, fear and depression; decreased insomnia and sleep disturbances; decreased perception of chronic and acute pain; improved interpersonal relations; increased energy levels; increased sense of control in their lives; more confidence and joy in their lives and a greater sense of peace and well-being.
Each Second Sunday, we will gather for the practice of the Yoga Nidra. Starting in June, we will start our journey through the chakras, and our experiences and shared teachings will be available through the blog.
Complement your yoga practice, address injuries, open your body and relieve stress of modern life with a restorative yoga class. This 90 minute class will be held on Sundays (with the exception of the 2nd Sunday of each month) at 2:00 PM at Maya Yoga, in the heart of the Crossroads District, downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
